1. Please check your MyFIU portal on your welcome page you will notice a series of boxes to the right of your screen. Please check the 1st and 3rd box. The 1st will be your holds box it will tell you every hold on your account. The 3rd will be your enrollment box, it will tell you when your enrollment appointment begins and ends.
2. Please print and go over your SASS prior to getting here. If there are any NOs showing on your SASS between boxes 1-8 please check with undergraduate advising in PC 249 or arts and sciences undergraduate advising in ECS 411. If you are experiencing any difficulties between boxes 9-12 then please make an appoint to see someone here within CJ and PA.
3. Once you have checked your SASS please prep your list of concerns and questions as we will not be able to keep revisiting with you, we must also tend to your peers.
4. The only holds handled by our office are the CLAST and undeclared major hold. For any other holds, please see the appropriate offices.
A) If any of you notice an advising hold on your account, that means you are not yet declared nor intended as a CJ or PA major and must contact whatever major you are listed under to have that removed. Or come in to our department and fill out a form to declare or intend the major if you have not yet met all requirements to declare.
B) If you have a CLAST hold, please come in 2 days prior to your enrollment appointment so that we may begin the process of getting you a temporary lift, if it is that you do qualify for one, so that you may be able to register for your courses on the first day of your enrollment appointment. (Please remember a temporary lift only lasts for 3 days if you come in any earlier it will be a waste of time!!!!!!)
C) If you have an undeclared major hold it either means that you have not yet declared your major, or that you cannot declare your major because you are missing the CLAST exam. For those of you not missing the CLAST exam, please stop by the office and fill out a change of major form and you will be instructed on your next step from there. For those missing the CLAST please come by and fill out or bring in a CLAST lift form. à
5. If you do not see an enrollment date in your enrollment box please contact the registrar’s office.
6. Other then CCJ 4497, CCJ 4940, PAD 4934, and the PAD courses being offered at the downtown site, you do not need permission numbers.

B) For CCJ 4940 if you did not submit an application for an internship the previous semester (meaning this fall 2009 semester) you will not get permission for it for the spring.
C) For PAD 4934 you will not be granted permission into the course unless you have completed all core courses, except if you are one of the students who qualified for the FALL 2009 and spring 2010 agreement which was sent out to the PA student body during the end of fall advising.
D) For all courses offered down town, until the department registers all the county students the block will remain on those courses. Once the block is removed, the course then become a first come first served deal. Your best bet is to contact the department about a week after registration starts to inquire about when we will be removing the block, no time before that.
E) If you are being asked for permission numbers for any other courses, please contact the registrar’s office.
